PgCert Professional Studies Photography
My practice explores the relationship between subject and photographer, and photograph and viewer, examining the power struggle between observer and observed. I explore the extent to which the viewer owns the dominant gaze, and in relation to this, the ethical responsibility in representing people photographically. I consider the degree to which subjects can withhold something of themselves whilst being exposed.Fascinated with the tension between art and portraiture, I photograph a multitude of subjects; friends, family, volunteers and strangers.
