BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Menswear
I am Cal Andelius, 25 year old menswear graduate. Coming from Sweden I chose to go to London where I now thrive on all the possibilities the city has to offer. I enjoy working with many people and take on different roles to gain experience, expand myself as designer and make contacts. My design philosophy is that a garment should not just look good, but be interesting so the wearer does not tire of it. This means many small details both inside and outside. I like playing around with traditinal ideas of garments and question the primary use it has by putting it in a new context. My specialized area has become menswear, the reason being that (in contrast to womenswear) there are many rules within what the male consumer would like to be seen in. That means that there are rules to be broken and the challenge is to balance the edge of those rules, being careful not to step over them or to be too much in security within them.
